Atta Panin

Atta Panin, the elder of twins, was born on 1939 at his hometown, to his parents. He was one of six children. Their parents passed very early in their childhood, so they were cared for by an aunt, his aunt, and an uncle, aka an uncle.

He attended Presbyterian Boarding School and thereafter Akim Tafo Business College, where he laid the foundation for a distinguished career in commerce.

The young man moved to Accra to find work after his education. He found his first job after what he described as a rigorous interview with the United Africa Company of Ghana Limited (UAC). He was employed as a District Manager’s Secretary in 1953. He had such a positive attitude and excelled in his work so much so that he was promoted to the position of General Sales Manager with Accra Ice Company, a subsidiary of UAC.

Thereafter, he was appointed the first Ghanaian Marketing Director of Lever Brothers Ghana Limited. He subsequently became the General Manager and Director of UAC, which was previously composed of 16 subsidiaries. His work-life balance was second to none — he worked hard and played hard. He worked internationally in Kenya, the United Kingdom, and Nigeria with Lever Brothers, not to mention the numerous other countries he visited for work.

He retired from the UAC group as a Director of UAC, whereupon he set up his own successful companies — Research and Marketing Services (“RMS”) and WILEB Mining Supplies Ltd, the latter of which he worked at until his demise on 19th February 2026.
